Owlpane Overview

Owlpane is a unified observability platform for logs, metrics, distributed traces, frontend real-user monitoring (RUM), and automated incident workflows.

Core Capabilities

  • Unified Telemetry Ingest: Native OpenTelemetry Protocol (OTLP) HTTP and gRPC endpoints for logs, metrics, and traces using workspace-scoped owl_ing_* ingest keys.
  • High-Density Storage & Query: Columnar Parquet object storage with sub-second SQL, PromQL-style metric expressions, and full-text log search.
  • Dashboards Hub: Single workspace hub combining custom dashboards, one-click installation from the Owlpane dashboard library, built-in starter templates, and JSON import/export.
  • Alerts, Monitors & SLOs: Threshold, anomaly, and error-budget monitors with automated routing to Slack, PagerDuty, webhooks, and incident timelines.
  • AI & Automation: Context-aware query assistance, automated root-cause summaries, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools for engineering workflows.

Console Navigation: Home vs. Applications Overview

When you sign in to the Owlpane console, you land on Home (/home) at the top of the Telemetry navigation group:

  • Home (/home) gives a workspace-wide operational snapshot across all signals: active firing and acknowledged alerts, service health cards ordered by severity, stacked log volume, recent alert events, What changed, and the Assistant tab for natural-language queries and guided workflows.
  • Applications → Overview (/observability) focuses specifically on application performance monitoring (APM) and Real User Monitoring (RUM): request throughput, 5xx/4xx rates, p50/p95/p99 latency breakdown by route, and Core Web Vitals for @owlpane/browser front-end applications.

Next Steps

  • Quickstart — Send your first logs, metrics, and traces in under five minutes.
  • Architecture — Understand how the Owlpane ingest cells, control plane, and query engine fit together.
  • Dashboards Hub — Explore, import, and customize dashboards.
